This is what awaits you in your dual study programme in industrial engineering
Your dual study programme in industrial engineering is completed after only 7 semesters plus the bachelor’s thesis (46 months). The dual study programme in industrial engineering, like the other dual study programmes, combines these components by alternating between practical and theoretical phases throughout the entire study period. This link is additionally supported by the preparation of practical transfer reports.
Individual compulsory electives give you the opportunity to focus on specific areas and acquire all the most important skills.
After completing the dual study programme in Industrial Engineering and Management, you will have well-founded knowledge in the areas of technical competence, methodological competence and social competence, which you can then apply in practice in your company.
The dual study programme in Industrial Engineering and Management ideally combines university studies with active company practice. Each of your practical phases will be optimally prepared so that you can shine with your knowledge and take on responsible tasks.
During your studies, exciting project work is part of the programme to build up interdisciplinary and transferable knowledge.
In addition to your professors, experienced practitioners from business and technology will impart knowledge to you in a structured manner, offering you an intensive and very well-supported study programme. Small groups allow for an optimal supervision ratio between you and the lecturers, so that you are sure to succeed!
Your dual study programme in industrial engineering usually begins with a practical phase on 1 August each year. The diagram below shows how your phases are coordinated.
This is what awaits you in your classical studies
Instead of the dual study programme in industrial engineering, you can also study the classical way. If you study classically, you will have completed your studies after 7 semesters plus a Bachelor’s thesis (46 months).
By studying individually selected core subjects, you acquire the skills that are most important to you. After graduation, you will have a sound knowledge of technical, methodological and social skills through your choice of individual subjects, which you can apply practically in your company.
Through project work during your studies, you will build up valuable knowledge that will be useful in various areas. We guarantee you intensive and well-supervised studies with experienced practitioners from business and technology alongside your professors. Our groups are small so that you receive the best possible support and can be successful.

These contents await you in the dual industrial engineering degree programme
The dual study programme in industrial engineering is divided into two areas: the mathematical, natural and engineering sciences area and the economic, legal and social sciences area. The core and specialisation areas will cover the already taught content in more detail, and in the 3 elective modules, focal points will be chosen to develop in an individual direction and further expand interests. Project work underpins this knowledge with your own experience and practical implementation.
All contents of the dual study programme in industrial engineering are interdisciplinary technical and economic – this means that you learn the basics of construction and at the same time deal with accounting and controlling topics. This will make you a sought-after all-rounder on the job market who will be familiar with many areas in the company.
From the very beginning, a lot of emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary application of knowledge, on networked, solution-oriented and socially competent thinking and acting. In this way, technical, methodological and social competences for a professional activity as an industrial engineer are specifically developed and strengthened at an early stage. Typical fields of application for an industrial engineer can be found in the following business sectors:
- Sales and marketing
- Logistics and materials management
- Production and manufacturing
- Quality management and
- Finance and accounting
